I first downloaded twitter my freshman year of high school. At the time I only used Facebook and Instagram, so Twitter was a very different vibe. I was very overwhelmed and confused when I first got Twitter and because of this, I rarely used it and eventually deleted it. My senior year of high school I tried to give it another shot. My second attempt went much better and Twitter eventually became my main source of social media. I used Twitter to interact with different news accounts, gaming accounts, and celebrities/athletes that I enjoyed following. Twitter could be beneficial in my future career by allowing me to stay up-to-date and connected to the world.
The digital divide is the gap between those that have access to technology and those that do not. In today's modern age, not having access to technology can negatively impact a student's ability to learn because they do not have access to the same amount of resources as other students putting them at a disadvantage. Sometimes the digital divide is caused due to geographical restrictions such as those living in third world countries, but sometimes it can be due to poverty and low technological literacy. As a teacher, it is important to understand the different income levels that students will be coming from and to know that not every student will have access to the same resources at home. To combat this, I will make sure my teaching strategy revolves around inclusiveness and participation during class, regardless of individual backgrounds.
There are many different academic software tools for teachers. The two I would like to try would be ClassDojo and Kahoot. ClassDojo is a tool to improve student behavior. Teachers provide students with instant feedback so that students are rewarded and their good behavior is reinforced. Kahoot is an educational platform that is based on games and questions. Teachers can make their own quizzes in the form of a trivia game where students can easily access through their phones and learn throughout the game.
Badges are a way of rewarding someone for completing a task. They come in many different shapes and sizes and can be earned in many different ways. I believe badges are a good way to reward behavior, especially in children. Giving a badge to someone shows them that you are proud of their accomplishment and can make someone feel good about their hard work. I have never earned a badge per say but I have earned many types of rewards throughout my baseball career that I am very proud of. I personally do not share these badges, but my parents definitely do.
